The Bagside Dolly Slider is a modular camera-movement system that works as both a slider and a dolly, built from threaded tubes you connect to the length the shot needs. Add tubes for a long, smooth move; break it down into a compact hard case to travel. Here's how it works and what's in the kit.

Slider and dolly in one

Most rigs make you choose between a slider (a fixed rail for short, precise moves) and a dolly (wheels for longer travel). The Dolly Slider does both: the camera platform rides on magnetic wheels with safety locks along a tube track, so short slides and longer dolly-style moves come from the same tool. It's described as very smooth in hands-on testing, and the platform can be inverted for low-angle shots close to the ground.

Modular track, build the length you need

The track is tube-based and expandable. The kit includes eight 40mm x59 cm tubes joined by threaded adapters, extending to roughly 2.36 to 2.4 m of track with no visible joins, so a move glides the full length without a bump. Run a short length for a tabletop reveal or connect the full set for a long tracking shot, you carry only the tubes the job needs.

What's in the kit

Included Purpose
8 × 59 cm tubes Modular track, up to ~2.4 m
Bowl plates 75 / 100 / 150 mm Mount to any tripod bowl size
Native Mitchell plate Mount to heavy/cine supports
Two stand/safety adapters Support on light stands, secure the plate
Spirit levels (main & side plates) Fast, accurate leveling
Rolling hard case Protected transport

With 75 mm, 100 mm and 150 mm bowl plates plus a Mitchell plate, the Dolly Slider mounts to virtually any Sachtler tripod or heavy support you already own, and the two stand adapters let you set it across light stands. Built-in spirit levels on the main and side plates make leveling quick.

Travel and transport

The complete kit weighs around 37 kg in its rolling hard case. For air travel, you can remove the joining connectors to bring the case under the 32 kg checked-baggage limit, a genuinely useful touch for a slider that's also a full dolly.

Room to grow: motorised control

Bagside has shown an upcoming motorised attachment for the Dolly Slider that adds programmable movement, control via a game controller or mobile app, with speed adjustment and A/B point programming for repeatable moves. If you shoot timelapse, product or motion-control work, it's a clear upgrade path. (Availability of the motor add-on may vary, ask us for the latest.)

Pairs with the Bagstation cart

The Dolly Slider is a natural companion to the Bagside Bagstation cart, transport it on the cart, then set it on your tripods or stands to shoot. Together they make a compact, modular movement-and-transport kit from one brand.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Bagside Dolly Slider a slider or a dolly?

Both. The camera platform rides on magnetic wheels along a tube track, so it works as a slider for short precise moves and as a dolly for longer travel, from the same system.

How long is the Bagside Dolly Slider track?

The kit includes eight 59 cm tubes that connect with threaded adapters, extending to roughly 2.36 to 2.4 m of track with no visible joins. You can run a shorter length by using fewer tubes.

What tripods does the Dolly Slider mount to?

It includes 75 mm, 100 mm and 150 mm bowl plates plus a native Mitchell plate, so it mounts to virtually any tripod bowl size or heavy/cine support. Two stand adapters also let you set it across light stands.

Can the Bagside Dolly Slider do low-angle shots?

Yes, the platform can be inverted to get the camera low to the ground, and Bagside has indicated a further adapter to go even lower.

Is it easy to travel with?

The kit is around 37 kg in a rolling hard case, and you can remove the joining connectors to bring it under the 32 kg air-travel checked-baggage limit.
