The short version: runs a Canon C100, C300 or C500 off a full size V-Mount or Gold Mount battery, with P-Taps for your accessories.

What you'd use it for

Small on board batteries are fine until the day runs long. This plate lets a Canon Cinema EOS body run off a proper brick instead, and gives you P-Tap outputs on the plate for a monitor or a receiver at the same time.

The C-Series DC connector feeds the camera through a built in regulator, so the camera always sees a steady 9V. The cable comes out the right side of the plate and loops neatly into the camera, well clear of the operator side. It is a go to fit for rental packages and long form documentary work.

Pick your battery mount first: V-Mount is the popular choice, and Gold Mount is there if your batteries already run on Gold Mount. Then pick Standard or Pro. Standard suits the C100, C300 and C500 with two P-Taps. Pro also covers the C100mkII and adds a tough aluminium body, a third P-Tap, a digital fuse with a reset button, a rear cover plate and captive mounting screws that will not go missing on set.

In real world terms

Camera power? A regulated, constant 9V to the camera through the C-Series DC connector.
Accessory power? 2 P-Taps on Standard, 3 on Pro, at battery voltage (12 to 16V).
Cable? 16 inch, exiting the right side of the plate.
Part numbers? V-Mount Standard 8075-0268, Gold Mount Standard 8075-0267, V-Mount Pro 8075-0269, Gold Mount Pro 8075-0270.

Good to know

On the Pro plates the old physical fuse is replaced by a digital one. If your accessories pull more current than the set limit, only the accessory outputs switch off and the camera keeps rolling. Take some load off, hit the reset button and you are back in business.
