The short version: the Gemini 1x1 Hard on a pole operated yoke, ready for the studio grid.

What you'd use it for

Gemini is the full colour (RGBWW) side of Litepanels. Beyond dialling any white from warm 2,700K right up to a cold 10,000K, you can pick any of 16 million colours, call up one of 300 gel presets, or run one of 11 built in effects. That makes it as handy for a studio key as it is for a coloured background wash or a music clip.

The 1x1 Hard is the punchy one. Bare, it is brighter than a 200W HMI, so it suits lighting from further back, competing with window light, bouncing into a frame or driving a big softbox. Pop the domed diffuser on when you want it soft and wide, take it off when you need every bit of light.

This version comes on a pole operated yoke, so once it is hung in the grid you can pan and tilt it from the floor with a lighting pole. No ladders, no waiting, which is exactly what a busy TV or corporate studio wants.

In real world terms

  • How bright? 3,023 lux at 3 m in daylight with no diffuser, which Litepanels rate as about 20% more than a 200W HMI. Up close at 1 m it is 27,207 lux.
  • Softened down? With the domed diffuser on it is 1,003 lux at 3 m and spreads past 100°.
  • How wide? 46° bare, more than 100° with the domed diffuser.
  • How accurate? CRI and TLCI 98 average, with green and magenta adjustment.
  • How smooth? Flicker free dimming from 100% down to 0.1%.
  • Power? 200 W, mains (100 to 240 V) or DC from 13 to 33 V, and full output on battery.
  • Control? A single dial with an LCD menu on the back, wired DMX and RDM built in, plus Bluetooth, WDMX or CRMX wireless with the optional plug in modules.
  • Where can it go? IP20, so indoors or under cover. Works from minus 20°C to 45°C.
