What you'd use it for

Marking pins that clip onto a focus ring so a mark can be found by feel as well as by eye, instead of squinting at a pencil line while the take is running. They go on and come off without tools, which means a rack can be marked again between setups rather than at lunch.

This is the glow finish, so the pin is still readable once the set goes dark.
