What you'd use it for

The VCLX NM2 is the classic Anton/Bauer block battery: a 600Wh NiMH box that sits on the floor or a cart and runs high current gear by cable. It puts out 14.4V on two 4 pin XLR connectors and 28V or 48V on one 3 pin XLR, both at the same time, so a camera and a big light can share the one battery.

On the matching VCLX 2 charger it charges faster than any other block battery on the market, according to Anton/Bauer. Battery ID, learned capacity, cycle count and time stamped errors show on the unit or through Fleet Management over the built in Wi-Fi.

In real world terms

  • How much power? 600Wh, NiMH chemistry.
  • Outputs? Two 4 pin XLR at 14.4V plus one 3 pin XLR at 28V or 48V, running at the same time.
  • What's left? A 2.4 inch LCD shows remaining capacity at all times.
  • Protection? Smart electronic fuses warn you on the screen and reset themselves once it is safe. It also shuts itself off at 12V so the cells are not damaged.
  • Max load? 700W.
