The short version: a large aperture cone to squeeze the beam into a defined pool of light.

What you'd use it for

A cone (or snoot) fits on the front of the light and narrows it down to a defined pool. This is the large aperture version: pick small for a tight spot, large for a broader pool, medium in between. Great for picking out a product, a face or a feature on the set.
