The short version: a small, focusable daylight Fresnel that throws light like a 200W HMI while drawing just 53 W.
What you'd use it for
Think of the Sola 4+ as the little workhorse spot. It is a daylight LED Fresnel with a 4 inch lens, so you can flood it right out to a wide 71° wash or spot it down to a tight 15° beam and put light exactly where you want it: a hair light, a kicker, a pool of light on a desk or a splash on the back wall.
Because it is a Fresnel rather than a panel, the light is crisp and directional, with clean shadows and a beam you can shape with the included barndoor. At 1.63 kg it rigs easily on a baby stand or a clamp, and it is the sort of light you end up packing on every job.
In real world terms
-
How bright? Litepanels compare it to a 200W HMI, from just 53 W at the wall.
-
How wide? Focus from 15° spot to 71° flood.
-
Colour? Daylight balanced. Add gel if you need to warm it up.
-
Control? Built in wired DMX on RJ45 for a lighting desk.
-
Where can it go? IP20, so it is an indoor and covered location light. Keep it out of the rain.
Good to know
- Mounts on a baby pin receiver, so a standard baby stand or C stand does the job.
