The short version: a square, soft, full colour panel that does flattering interview light and any colour you can think of.

What you'd use it for

Gemini is the full colour (RGBWW) side of Litepanels. Beyond dialling any white from warm 2,700K right up to a cold 10,000K, you can pick any of 16 million colours, call up one of 300 gel presets, or run one of 11 built in effects. That makes it as handy for a studio key as it is for a coloured background wash or a music clip.

The 1x1 Soft is the go to for faces. It throws a big, even, soft source straight out of the box with no softbox needed, so it is the panel people reach for as an interview key, a presenter light in a small studio or a soft fill. Need to match a coloured wall or warm up a cold office? Dial it in rather than reaching for gel.

In real world terms

  • How bright? 614 lux at 3 m in daylight and 557 lux in tungsten, from a big soft face. That is a lovely soft key for an interview a couple of metres back.
  • How wide? A 95° beam, so one panel covers a lot of ground.
  • How accurate? CRI 97 and TLCI 94 average, with a green and magenta adjustment to match other lights or the room.
  • How smooth? Flicker free from 100% down to 0.1%, at any frame rate or shutter angle, with no colour shift as you dim.
  • Power? 200 W, mains (100 to 240 V) or batteries. Litepanels quote over two hours at full brightness on a 26V battery like the Anton Bauer Dionic 26V.
  • How heavy? 5.5 kg with the yoke and power supply, 320 x 320 x 110 mm.
  • Control? A single dial with an LCD menu on the back, wired DMX and RDM built in, plus Bluetooth, WDMX or CRMX wireless with the optional plug in modules.
  • Where can it go? IP20, so indoors or under cover. Works from minus 20°C to 45°C.

  • Standard yoke, so it goes straight on a stand. The power supply sits on the yoke.
  • Warranty is one year, extended to two when you register the light.
