The short version: gets a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera off its little batteries and onto a full size V-Mount or Gold Mount brick.
What you'd use it for
Pocket cameras chew through their small internal batteries fast. This plate is the usual fix: run the camera off a full size brick and use the P-Taps on the plate to power your monitor, recorder or wireless transmitter from the same battery.
The 16 inch cable loops neatly from the right side of the plate into the camera.
Pick your battery mount first: V-Mount is the popular choice, and Gold Mount is there if your batteries already run on Gold Mount. Then pick Standard or Pro. Standard gives you two P-Taps. Pro adds a tough aluminium body, a third P-Tap, a digital fuse with a reset button, a rear cover plate and captive mounting screws that will not go missing on set.
In real world terms
-
Camera power? Through the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera DC connector.
-
Accessory power? 2 P-Taps on Standard, 3 on Pro at battery voltage (12 to 16V).
-
Cable? 16 inch.
-
Part numbers? V-Mount Standard 8075-0305, Gold Mount Standard 8075-0304, V-Mount Pro 8075-0306, Gold Mount Pro 8075-0307.
Good to know
- On the Pro plates the old physical fuse is replaced by a digital one. If your accessories pull more current than the set limit, only the accessory outputs switch off and the camera keeps rolling. Take some load off, hit the reset button and you are back in business.
