The short version: runs a RED DSMC1 or DSMC2 body off a full size V-Mount or Gold Mount battery, with P-Taps for accessories.

What you'd use it for

This plate powers a RED body through its LEMO compatible power port, so you can run a full size brick and still have P-Taps spare for monitors and wireless.

The short 8 inch cable keeps things tidy on a built up camera and still reaches extra modules when you need it. A standard fit on rental RED packages that already run bricks.

Pick your battery mount first: V-Mount is the popular choice, and Gold Mount is there if your batteries already run on Gold Mount. Then pick Standard or Pro. Standard has two P-Taps and is wired so RED Brick and smart V-Mount battery percentage shows up on the camera displays. Pro adds a tough aluminium body, a third P-Tap, a digital fuse with a reset button, a rear cover plate and captive mounting screws that will not go missing on set. Both fit the same cameras.

  • Camera power? Through the RED DSMC1 and DSMC2 LEMO compatible connector.
  • Battery readout? The Standard plate shows RED Brick and smart V-Mount percentage on the camera.
  • Accessory power? 2 P-Taps on Standard, 3 on Pro at battery voltage (12 to 16V).

Good to know

  • On the Pro plates the old physical fuse is replaced by a digital one. If your accessories pull more current than the set limit, only the accessory outputs switch off and the camera keeps rolling. Take some load off, hit the reset button and you are back in business.
