What you'd use it for
This Sachtler aktiv™ 75 mm fluid head for payloads of up to 12 kg (26.5 lbs.), with unique SpeedLevel™ technology, can be levelled in seconds giving you time to get the perfect shot in documentary, corporate or news applications. The SpeedSwap™ system delivers the fastest way to switch between tripod and slider in seconds giving you ultimate flexibility.
The head is offered with a choice of two camera plate systems, and that choice is the only difference between the two part numbers. The aktiv8, part number S2068S, carries the Sideload mechanism. The aktiv8T, part number S2068T, carries the Touch & Go camera platform in place of the Sideload mechanism. Payload, counterbalance steps, drag settings and levelling are the same on both, and BFD prices them the same.

Camera plate
Sideload, part number S2068S, is the aktiv8. Sachtler publishes a long sliding range of 120 mm for it. The camera loads from the side onto a sliding platform and moves fore and aft over that travel, so it suits a rig whose balance point shifts as the configuration changes and has to be found on the platform.
Touch & Go, part number S2068T, is the aktiv8T. The Touch & Go camera platform is fitted in place of the Sideload mechanism. The camera drops onto the plate from above into a preset position and comes on and off one handed, so it suits a crew mounting the same camera on the head again and again. Sachtler does not publish a sliding range figure for the aktiv8T.
Figures published by Sachtler. Counterbalance, drag, sliding range and levelling figures are those Sachtler publishes for the aktiv8 and aktiv8T in its flowtech75 system data.
