What you'd use it for

The aktiv8 flowtech75 system is both lightweight and durable, designed to be a long-serving and high-performing part of your kit. This system is the perfect choice for professional medium-sized camcorders and digital cine camera set ups of up to 12 kg (26.5 lbs.). 15 counterbalance steps allow for fast and precise balancing of your camera. Seven drag settings provide smooth and fast options to adjust drag performance without jolts or vibrations. The illuminated PrismBubble with top or side view makes levelling easy from any height.

The same head is offered with a choice of two camera plate systems, and that choice is what the Camera plate selector sets. The aktiv8 carries the Sideload mechanism, part numbers S2068S-FTGS and S2068S-FTMS. The aktiv8T carries the Touch & Go camera platform in place of the Sideload mechanism, part numbers S2068T-FTGS and S2068T-FTMS. Payload, counterbalance steps, drag settings and levelling are the same on both, and BFD prices them the same.

Options

Camera plate

Sideload is the mechanism fitted to the aktiv8. The camera loads from the side onto a sliding platform and moves fore and aft over a sliding range of 120 mm, the longer travel of the two, so it suits a rig whose balance point moves as the configuration changes. Part numbers S2068S-FTGS and S2068S-FTMS.

Touch & Go is the camera platform fitted to the aktiv8T in place of the Sideload mechanism. The camera drops onto the plate from above into a preset position and comes on and off one handed, so it suits a crew mounting the same camera on the head again and again. Part numbers S2068T-FTGS and S2068T-FTMS. Sachtler does not publish a sliding range figure for the aktiv8T.

Spreader

Ground and mid level spreaders are offered against both camera plates, on the same flowtech75 tripod and at the same price. With the Sideload plate the ground spreader system weighs 6.5 kg (14.3 lbs.) and the mid level system 6.3 kg (13.9 lbs.). With the Touch & Go plate the ground spreader system weighs 6.6 kg (14.5 lbs.) and the mid level system 6.4 kg (14.1 lbs.).
