What you'd use it for

Just a touch of softening with plenty of output left. A good everyday choice when you are lighting from a distance.

Diffusers sit on the front of the panel and soften the light. Lighter grades keep more output and a crisper shadow; heavier grades are softer and more even but cost you some brightness. Swapping diffusers is the quickest way to change the look without moving the light.
