Sony's VENICE and VENICE 2 are full-frame CineAlta cameras built for features, drama and high-end commercials. Wooden Camera makes one of the most complete accessory systems for them, and Anton Bauer and Wooden Camera both make power distribution built for the camera. Here is how to build one out from the Black Flag Distribution range.
VENICE and VENICE 2 in brief
The VENICE 2 is available with an 8.6K full-frame or 6K sensor block, records X-OCN RAW and XAVC internally, and keeps the VENICE's built-in multi-stage ND filters and PL mount (with an E-mount underneath). Both cameras are designed to be built up with top plates, baseplates, cages and power distribution, which is where the accessories below come in.
Power distribution: Wooden Camera and Anton Bauer D-Box
- Wooden Camera D-Box (Sony VENICE, VENICE 2), in V-Mount (258000) or Gold Mount (258100): adds power outputs and hot swap to either camera. Add the Battery Swing Bracket (254600) to reposition the battery.
- Anton Bauer D-Box for Sony VENICE, in Gold Mount (8075-0297) or V-Mount (8075-0298): built for the original VENICE, attaching to the back of the AXS-R7 or to the battery plate on the camera rear. It adds a Power Strip, ARRI standard start/stop on the 3-pin Fischer (including UMC-4 and WCU-4), a DC input for hot swap from an AC supply or VCLX block battery, and a processor controlled amp limit of 3.8, 5.8 or 9 amps.
Run either with Anton Bauer Dionic XT or Titon batteries on a QUAD 6A charger, and use a CINE VCLX NM2 block battery for all-day studio power. Our Anton Bauer battery guide has more detail.
Rigging: the Wooden Camera VENICE system
- Elite Accessory System (Sony VENICE, VENICE 2) (K10021): the complete build in one order.
- Quick-Release Top Plate System (A00208) and 15mm Upper Dual Rod Clamp (A00223).
- Baseplate System (kit A00310 for VENICE and VENICE 2) and Faceplate Cage System.
- Expansion Cheese Plate (A00203), Side Hook-and-Loop Plate for VENICE 2 (A00298) and the AIR EVF Extension Arm (259100) for the DVF-EL200.
- ARRI LPL Mount v2 for VENICE, VENICE 2 and BURANO (A00224) to run ARRI Signature lenses.
Camera support: OConnor and Sachtler

Wireless video and monitoring: Teradek, SmallHD and Light Widow
The Teradek Bolt 7 and Bolt 7 Max take 12G-SDI for zero-delay video and work with existing Bolt 4K and Bolt 6 receivers. SmallHD offers Cine 7 kits and camera control kits for VENICE, VENICE 2 and BURANO, so the operator can change camera settings from the monitor. The Wooden Camera Director's Monitor Cage v3 protects the director's monitor, and the Light Widow FIZLock speeds up lens motor changes.
Lighting and camera department
Litepanels Gemini panels, Quasar Science Rainbow 2 tubes, Chimera lightbanks and LEE Filters gels for the lighting team; OpenMoon slates, filter pouches and the Crew Gear Box, Setwear Pro Leather gloves and a Bagside Bagstation XL for the camera department.
